Situated midway between Crawley and East Grinstead, Copthorne was first laid out in 1892 with additions by James Braid in the 1930's and Bill Cox in the 1970's.

Copthorne is conveniently situated a few minutes drive from Junction 10 of the M23, giving easy access to Gatwick Airport and the M25. This private members club welcomes visitors to play the course at anytime of year.

The course features tree lined fairways and plenty of heather in the rough, and has a stream that meanders between the trees and the greens. It has hosted a number of regional and county championship events.

The club has had a tradition of welcoming lady members and has records of ladies matches as far back as 1894, and in 1903 the club had 66 gentlemen and 55 ladies as members.
