The oldest golf course in the world, where golf was reputedly first played about 600 years ago. The course has undergone many transformations over the years and can still get the better of top professional players. Major names associated with the course include Daw Anderson (1850s), Old Tom Morris (1860s- 1900)and Dr Alister Mackenzie (1930s). Many of the holes are named including the famous 17th - The Road Hole where the out of bounds and the notorious Road Bunker are constantly in play. Despite being host to the Open Championship on numerous occasions the course is open to the public though you will need a valid handicap certficate and have to enter a ballot for tee times for a round the following year.
