"The Club was founded in 1909 when a nine-hole course was laid out on land rented from the city council and the lord of the manor, J. Atkin Waller of Pen Park. The Club became so popular that it was extended to eighteen holes in 1912 and a clubhouse built. The Club's first professional, E. Crook, was engaged in 1911. It was not, however until 1979 that the Club was able to purchase the land on which the course sits. Across the years numerous well known professionals have played over Filton’s acres including Max Faulkner, Brian Huggett and Christy O’Connor. Home- grown talent includes Caroline Hall, who enjoyed a glittering amateur career and represented Great Britain & Ireland in the 1992 Curtis Cup before turning professional." - Taken from their site.
