Built in 1926 by the celebrated JF Abercrombie as a sister course to Gleneagles and Turnberry, the course has recently undergone a complete refurbishment by Donald Steel and is now being celebrated as one of the world's great courses under Peter de Savary's ownership.

Reopened in July 2004 after a major year-long restoration programme by Donald Steel and Tom Mackenzie, the course now provides a interesting and challenging world-class course in the heart of the Dartmoor National Park in Devon.
The course was originally built in 1926 by JF Abercrombie as a sister course to Gleneagles and Turnberry.
In 2003, Bovey Castle and its course and Estate was bought by sporting entrepeneur, Peter de Savary aready known for his celebrated international Clubs of Skibo Castle in Scotland, Cherokee Plantation in South Carolina and Carnegie Abbey in Rhode Island.
During 2003, the Castle, course and Estate were completely refurbished opening in 2004 as a deluxe 5 star resort and club.
The courses winds its way around the 65 bedroom Castle and Club house and meanders across the Rivers Teign and Bovey.
The course may be available to non-residents by prior arrangement with the Club Professional.
