Situated on the edge of the picturesque village of Lymm the course is bounded by the Manchester Ship Canal and open farmland. The course is played on two levels with the original holes played on the top level alongside the canal. This area has developed almost a heathland type of vegetation - a feature recently added to with the planting of gorse bushes. The first two holes and holes eleven onwards are played on the lower level, opened in 1972 this is a more traditional parkland type setting.
